Q. What is this PhilNITS Exam all about?


A. The Exam is a certification exam given by the members of ITPEC. The exam given in the Phlippines is already in English.




Q. Is there a fee to take the exam?


A. Yes, there is a fee which is non-refundable


For level 1 IT Passport - 1,500 Philippine Pesos


For level 2 FE (Fundamental Engineers) 2,500 Philippine Pesos


For level 3 AP (Applied IT Engineer) - 3,500 Philippine Pesos




Q. How long is the exam?


A. For AP,  150 minutes morning and 150 minutes afternoon.

For FE, 90 minutes morning and 100 minutes afternoon

for IP, 120 minutes morning only


For FE

The exam is 2 parts,f morning theory, afternoon programming languages, everything is multiple choice. It will be given two times one in April and another in October.


AP is given once a year, morning is similar to FE and the afternoon portion include a bit of coding.


For IT Passport it is half day, morning only consisting of 100 questions multiple choice. Also given two times a year.




Q. I cannot register through the Internet, is there another way to register?


A. You can register by downloading the application form and sending your application through email at registrar@philnits.org


mail or visit the office at

you can get your exam permit same day if you visit the office.



Q. How do I know if my registration was processed?


A. For those who did online registration, you will be contacted through the email you submitted on the application form. All instructions such as  exam location and replies will be sent through this email that you have provided. 




Q. I have not graduated from school. Can I take the exam?


A. Certainly, there is no age limit, diploma, degrees or work experience required to take the exam. Meaning anybody is welcome, even non-iT.




Q. What do I have to know?


A. For IT Passport basic knowledge on technology, strategy and project management.


For FE, the bodies of knowledge can be downloaded for free, just also know at least one of two programming language C or Java for the afternoon part of the exam. This part is also multiple choice. You will not be asked to write a computer program.




Q. How do I pay?


A. Payment is directly at the PhilNITS office, mailed in cheques, via telegraphic transfer to PhilNITS' RCBC account or through any RCBC commercial bank nationwide. You will be advised on how to pay when we receive your application. Note that RCBC Commercial bank is different from RCBC Savings bank.


Those who pay at the PhilNITS Office can get their exam permit immediately. Bring 3 recent passport size photo and payment.


For those who paid through cheque, telegraphic transfer, you will need to send through mail 3 picture 2 x 2 passport size and your cheque or a photo copy of the RCBC deposit slip or copy of telegraphic transfer as proof of payment to Philnits Foundation before your exam permit can be processed.


 


Q. Where can we get review materials?


A. Previous exams and answer keys are already posted on the ITPEC website. You may download them for free.




Q. I am from the province, is there an easier way to submit my requirements?



A. Yes, The sites for Manila and Cebu are already posted on the PhilNITS website under contact . You may also visit them to register and they will take care of submitting your documents to the PhilNITS (formerly JITSE) Quezon City office.
